2019 Hyundai Santa Fe: How Much Does It Cost to Fill Up?

2019 hyundai santa fe

though little changed for 2018, the 2019 hyundai santa fe suv is a redesigned two-row rebadging of the outgoing santa fe sport. in a competitive class that in 2019 will include both the new honda passport and chevrolet blazer, as well as updates to the ford edge and nissan murano, the santa fe's value proposition makes it an attractive option for the class. does that mean you're saving more on gas post-purchase? what would those costs look like?

as the new year gets underway, once again the answer is that they would be lower than they were the previous week. per aaa's daily fuel gauge report, the national average for regular fuel dropped for a 13th consecutive week as the year turned over. here's what that translates to in regard to the 2019 hyundai santa fe's 18.8-gallon tank:

  • at the national average of $2.25 a gallon, filling up a santa fe would cost $42.30.
  • in missouri, which had the cheapest statewide average by a comfortable margin as regular averaged $1.83 a gallon, filling up a santa fe from empty would cost $34.40.
  • in oklahoma and arkansas, where fuel was next cheapest at $1.92 per gallon, filling up would cost $36.10.
  • hawaii, long the undisputed leader as the most expensive state in the u.s. for regular gas, actually dropped significantly to average the same as california, typically the most expensive in the contiguous u.s. in both states, where fuel average $3.34 a gallon, filling up a santa fe would cost you $62.79.

each of those represents a drop in averages. nationally, the tumble in gas prices was significant as regular dropped 5 cents from the last week of 2018; the $2.25 average is nearly a quarter less per gallon than this time a year ago.

it wasn't just regular that saw a dip, either. premium fuel also dropped 5 cents to average $2.85 as of early thursday, while diesel fuel was down 4 cents to $2.98. still, the latter was unique among the major fuel grades as it averaged significantly higher than it was at the beginning of 2018, when the national average stood at $2.89 per gallon.
