The new $4,470 Brembo/BBS Recaro Package includes the Brembo brakes, BBS wheels and aero exterior trim found in 2017's Brembo/BBS Package, but adds Recaro seats. The Brembo/BBS Package returns with new heated seats in black leather and a $370 price bump to $3,770. Both packages are available on the Club model with the standard six-speed manual transmission.
MX-5 Miata base prices are slightly higher for 2018. The Sport model starts at $26,185, including the $890 destination charge; the Club is $30,045; and the Grand Touring is $31,085. A six-speed automatic transmission is optional on all three, and the price varies by model: $1,350 on the Sport, $600 on the Club and $1,075 on the Grand Touring. (Prices and changes for the Miata RF retractable fastback coupe will be announced at a later date.)
Among other changes, the Sport model now has the Mazda Connect infotainment system as standard, and new options include a Dark Cherry soft-top, Soul Red Crystal exterior paint and, for the Grand Touring only, Auburn Nappa leather seats.
The MX-5 Miata has remained true to its roots as a two-seat, rear-drive roadster that provides enough performance and convenience features to satisfy most drivers so they're willing to overlook the lack of space for a passenger and cargo. The only other car like it is the Fiat 124 Spider, which is based on the same chassis.
