the 2019 subaru legacy sees a slight uptick in price for the new model year with the base model starting at $23,430 (including an $885 destination charge), which represents a $375 increase over the 2018 model. but the 2019 more than makes up for that difference with the addition of new standard features, including subaru's used engine ering/eyesight.html">eyesight safety system. the legacy arrives at dealerships this summer.
the legacy joins the 2019 outback in adding eyesight as standard; the system includes adaptive cruise control, automatic forward emergency braking and lane keep assist. this brings the legacy and outback up to par with toyota vehicles — previously the only cars to offer this kind of comprehensive safety features as standard — and it's a trend we hope to see spread beyond subaru and toyota.
the legacy will still have two used engine options: a 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder and a 256-hp, 3.6-liter boxer six-cylinder (boxer means the cylinders are horizontally opposed in a flat configuration), with the larger six-cylinder only offered on the line-topping limited trim level. in ascending order, the trim levels are 2.5i (base), 2.5i premium, 2.5i sport, 2.5i limited and 3.6r limited, with the number beforehand specifying the used engine . all come with all-wheel drive standard.
the 2.5i base model, in addition to eyesight, also adds dual front console usb ports. other standard features include a 6.5-inch multimedia screen with android auto and apple carplay, a 5-inch display in the instrument panel and a backup camera.
starting at $25,580, the 2.5i premium adds on a larger 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen, 17-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power driver's seat and the all-weather package with heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer. a blind spot warning system, power moonroof and navigation are optional.
the 2.5i sport starts at $27,680 and includes all of the premium equipment while making the blind spot warning system standard and adding a unique two-tone cloth interior with blue accent stitching, carbon-fiber finish patterned trim and a three-spoke-design, leather-wrapped steering wheel with blue stitching. there are also exterior touches to make it look more aggressive, including larger 18-inch wheels, a sporty front grille, a spoiler and led foglights. a moonroof and navigation are optional here, as well, along with reverse automatic braking and high-beam assist.
topping things off is the limited, which comes in both 2.5i ($30,130) and 3.6r ($32,430) variants. it adds leather trimmed upholstery, heated rear seats, rear seat vents and 18-inch alloy wheels. there is one option package available, here, adding the same extras mentioned above on the sport but also a 12-speaker harman kardon audio system.
