Acura RDX Prototype to Reveal New Brand Look in Detroit

Acura RDX Prototype

Acura plans to unveil the prototype version of a new RDX in January at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and if history is any indication, the forthcoming production model will closely mirror the concept.

Acura is calling the new RDX the "best performing, most premium" version of the SUV, and says the new model will be the first in a new generation of Acura products and that it signals the beginning of a new era for the luxury automaker. All of that is hard to glean from the teaser image unveiled today, but it does provide a glimpse of styling that is definitely more aggressive than the brand's current look.

Outside, it appears the third generation of the compact SUV wears more chiseled bodyside styling than the current model, and Acura says it borrows some of its styling cues from the edgy Precision Concept that debuted at the 2016 Detroit auto show. Inside, Acura says the RDX will get an entirely new interior inspired by the Precision Cockpit, a futuristic-looking, tech-heavy control concept.

The curtain lifts on the RDX Prototype on Jan. 15 in Detroit, and we'll be there to witness it along with all the other action — so check back in with us later.
