Hyundai is finally bringing its N performance line to the U.S. — starting with the 2019 Veloster N, revealed at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit along with the decidedly less performance-oriented vanilla Veloster.

Let's start with the most important information: The Veloster N's Used Engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing what Hyundai describes as "up to an available 275 horsepower and up to 260 pounds-feet of torque." This is mated to a short-throw six-speed manual transmission with downshift rev-matching.

Putting all that power to the ground are standard Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires on 18-inch wheels, with optional Hyundai-exclusive Pirelli P-Zero summer tires wrapped around 19-inch wheels

The suspension features unique tuning and geometry for the multimode electronically adjustable suspension. The Veloster N even has a track mode — a Hyundai with a track mode! There is also what Hyundai is calling the N Corner-Carving Limited-Slip Differential that improves launches and increases cornering speeds.

The N Grin Control System — Hyundai's words, not ours — allows the driver to tune the Veloster N to desired performance settings. According to Hyundai, "Modes include Normal, Sport, N, Eco and N Custom, differentiating Used Engine throttle response, Used Engine speed rev-matching, exhaust note, active differential tuning, suspension damping rates, steering feel and yaw-control characteristics. N Custom mode allows comprehensive driving character preferences via uniquely customizable settings for each tunable driving attribute."

The Veloster N features a unique front fascia with functioning air ducts that help cool the standard 13.0-inch front brake rotors, partnered with 11.8-inch rear rotors; optional performance brakes measure 13.6 inches in front and 12.4 inches in the rear. Side skirts and a rear roof spoiler enhance the Veloster N's appearance and performance, as does the wide dual-exhaust system.

You can get your Veloster N in Ultra Black, Racing Red, Chalk White or our personal favorite, Performance Blue. Performance Blue is only available on N models and it just looks ... perfect.
